Thrust into the cannabis industry while in college, Christina originally launched her cannabis lifestyle magazine while living in the Emerald Triangle in 2012. Since then, Christina has fought her way up the cannabis media food chain, expanding her media empire across the country, reaching thousands of readers from the Valley in LA to the streets of New York City.

After law enforcement was notified in Humboldt County, Christina fought the system for nine months until her charges were dropped and she was able to reclaim her seized assets. Following her experience of civil injustice, Christina launched a print publication called the Emerald Magazine during her last semester at Humboldt State University, where she graduated with a degree in Journalism. Christina created Emerald Magazine as a resource to demystify cannabis for non-traditional, new medicinal users like her mother. The Media Group perfectly positions itself to educate those entering the new market.

New York State Senator Liz Krueger

New York State Senator Liz Krueger, an outspoken advocate for cannabis and the lead sponsor of the “Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act” is returns to The Green Rush this week!

After it looked like 2019 would finally be the year that New York would legalize adult use cannabis, the state legislature was unable to find common ground on a number of issues and failed to pass a bill that would satisfy the Democratic majority. Senator Krueger, who previously appeared on The Green Rush back in 2018, joins Lewis and guest host, Gretchen Gailey, to discuss what went wrong and what needs to happen in 2020 to get full legalization passed in the state.

In our conversation, our hosts explore the debates that took place around the Senator’s cannabis bill, what New York is learning from other states that have passed legalization, the race to legalization between New York and New Jersey and what the outlook looks like for cannabis legalization in 2020.

So don’t sit back, lean forward and enjoy!

About New York State Senator Liz Krueger

First elected to the New York State Senate in a Special Election in February 2002, Liz Krueger is currently the Ranking Member of Senate Finance Committee. She is also a member of five other committees: Elections; Higher Education; Housing, Construction and Community Development; Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities; and Rules. For the past several years, Manhattan state senator Liz Krueger has proposed a marijuana tax and regulation bill modeled on the state liquor law that treats marijuana companies like beverage distributors. Senator Krueger’s conservative estimate is that legalization of cannabis could produce $500 million in new revenue for the state government, $2 billion in new economic activity, and $300 million in savings for the state’s criminal justice system.
