Congressional Cannabis Day Part 2 – Social Justice Panel

We’re onto part two of our special series highlighting the panels of the inaugural “KCSA Congressional Cannabis Day Forum” at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. As part of the event, KCSA gathered a host of some of the brightest minds in the industry for a series of panel discussions aimed at addressing critical issues relevant to the sector, including capital markets and banking, CBD/hemp, opioids, veterans’ issues and social justice.

In the second installment of this four part series, we hear from our Social Justice Panel. We were privileged to have with us, Dr. Chanda Macias, CEO of National Holistic Healing Center and Women Grow, Jeannette Ward Horton, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the NuLeaf Project, James Watts, Senior Consultant with Cage Free Cannabis, and Moderator Leah Heise, Chief Experience Officer at 4Front.

This was an incredible discussion about the need for social equity to be a key part of any conversation around cannabis legalization, what is and what is not working in regards to legislation aimed at tackling this issue, the lack of funding and access to capital that minority entrepreneurs face, and the potential solutions to providing greater opportunities to minorities within the industry.

So don’t sit back, lean forward and enjoy!

Live From the National Cannabis Industry Association’s Seed-to-Sale Institutional Capital Forum PR Panel

Live From the National Cannabis Industry Association’s Seed-to-Sale Institutional Capital Forum PR Panel we have another Lewis conference special. Hosted by 4Front President Kris Krane and joined by John Lindsay Phillips from RLM PR, Lewis participated in a rollicking conversation about the communications, challenges and media/PR opportunities present in the cannabis industry.

The conversation ranged from how working with cannabis companies differs from working with other business clients, the lack of beat reporters at top tier publications dedicated to the cannabis space and how the PR landscape has evolved over the past half decade when it comes to cannabis coverage. The panel also included a Q&A session with members of the audience asking questions of Lewis and John.

Lewis had a lot of fun in this discussion and we think our readers will enjoy the spirited conversation as well so don’t sit back, lean forward and enjoy!.

Acreage Holdings and Barron’s Panel Discussion at the Cannabis Media Summit

This week’s episode is another Lewis conference special. The discussion features Barron’s Reporter Bill Alpert and Acreage Holdings’ Chief Communications Officer, Howard Schacter who joined Lewis back in December at the Cannabis Media Summit.

The conversation ranged from how to effectively engage with the media, to the language around the cannabis industry. In particular, the Q&A session at the end of the panel got quiet heated, and is well worth listening to.

There is no better way to kick off 2019 than with a rousing Green Rush Podcast and this one, well…was a hell of a lot of fun to listen to live and is just as fun and informative recorded…so don’t sit back, lean forward.

Enjoy!

Bill Alpert has been a senior writer at Barron’s since 1984. His investigations have inspired stock-fraud prosecutions and reforms in such areas as “backdoor” stock-exchange listings, for-profit colleges, and the Magnitsky Act that sanctions international human-rights violators.

Howard Schacter has over 30 years of experience from both agency and in-house public relations, marketing, and communications roles, having supported consumer and business-to-business organizations across several major industries, including cannabis, retail and entertainment. Prior to joining Acreage Holdings, Schacter served as Chief Communications Officer for the National Association of Cannabis Businesses, the cannabis industry’s first and only self-regulatory organization. Earlier in his career, he led corporate communications for Live Nation (then SFX/Clear Channel Entertainment).

Live! From CWCBE Los Angeles

Welcome back to the Green Rush, this week we have a special treat for our listeners – a live recording from the Cannabis World Congress and Business Expo (CWCBE) in Los Angeles. In this week’s conversation we bring you the “Cannabis and The Capital Markets” panel moderated by our very own Lewis Goldberg. Lewis is joined on the panel by a “who’s who” of the cannabis industry in Kris Krane, President of 4Front, Tahira Rehmatullah, CFO at MTech and Beth Stavola, COO and President of MPX Bioceutical Corp.

The Cannabis and Capital Markets panel covers the intersection of cannabis and the capital markets and takes a look at how both are evolving quicker than nearly anyone has expected. With more and more companies going public in the US and in Canada and an increasing number of RTOs, IPOs and roadshows dominating the industry, this panel of speakers from companies that either recently went public or are in the process of going public discuss the pitfalls, opportunities, and lessons learned from their experiences.

Enjoy!
