Lewis Koski, Chief Operating Officer of Metrc

Lewis Koski, the Chief Operating Officer of Metrc, America’s leading solution for cannabis and hemp governance, is this week’s guest on The Green Rush! Metrc’s software, RFID technology and support teams track cannabis products from seed to sale, ensuring a closed, legal ecosystem. Metrc’s solution ensures a secure supply chain, transparency, and public health, providing a safe marketplace for everyone.

In today’s oddly regulated cannabis world, regulations on the industry are created at the state level.  Our hosts sat down with Lewis to discuss how the differing rules and regulations across each state make working in the legal, taxed portion of the cannabis industry a challenge and how his platform is working to make compliance easier and easier.

With an interesting background, coming from Colorado, where he was Director of Marijuana enforcement, we wanted to chat with Lewis about why rollout of cannabis programs in different states are so different, his thoughts on how the cannabis industry has handled the vaping crisis, and what he thinks are the dumbest and silliest regulations facing the industry.

So don’t sit back, lean forward and enjoy!

New York State Senator Liz Krueger

New York State Senator Liz Krueger, an outspoken advocate for cannabis and the lead sponsor of the “Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act” is returns to The Green Rush this week!

After it looked like 2019 would finally be the year that New York would legalize adult use cannabis, the state legislature was unable to find common ground on a number of issues and failed to pass a bill that would satisfy the Democratic majority. Senator Krueger, who previously appeared on The Green Rush back in 2018, joins Lewis and guest host, Gretchen Gailey, to discuss what went wrong and what needs to happen in 2020 to get full legalization passed in the state.

In our conversation, our hosts explore the debates that took place around the Senator’s cannabis bill, what New York is learning from other states that have passed legalization, the race to legalization between New York and New Jersey and what the outlook looks like for cannabis legalization in 2020.

So don’t sit back, lean forward and enjoy!

About New York State Senator Liz Krueger

First elected to the New York State Senate in a Special Election in February 2002, Liz Krueger is currently the Ranking Member of Senate Finance Committee. She is also a member of five other committees: Elections; Higher Education; Housing, Construction and Community Development; Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities; and Rules. For the past several years, Manhattan state senator Liz Krueger has proposed a marijuana tax and regulation bill modeled on the state liquor law that treats marijuana companies like beverage distributors. Senator Krueger’s conservative estimate is that legalization of cannabis could produce $500 million in new revenue for the state government, $2 billion in new economic activity, and $300 million in savings for the state’s criminal justice system.
